Tsipras hails PPC investment plan for northern Greece

Main power utility PPC’s investments on new production facilities in northern Greece will create jobs, ensure the country’s energy independence, and help protect the environment, Alexis Tsipras, leader of the recently resigned Syriza, declared during a pre-election speech in Kozani.

Tsipras, who resigned as prime minister just weeks ago in search of a fresh four-year mandate, said development of PPC’s prospective project in the area, the Ptolemaida 5 power station, was ready to commence. His remarks prompted reaction from  green party officials.

PPC officials, including CEO Manolis Panagiotakis, are currently touring the country’s western Macedonian region, a key production area for PPC. Greece is gearing up for elections on September 20.
