Major consumers to benefit from lower surcharge ceiling

RAE, the Regulatory Authority for Energy, has lowered the ceiling on Public Service Compensation (YKO) and Emission Reduction Tariff (ETMEAR) surcharges included in consumer electricity bills. Major-scale consumers stand to benefit from the revision.

The ceiling for the YKO surcharge was lowered by the authority to 793,525 euros per consumer from its level of 803,977 euros in recent years. The ETMEAR ceiling was reduced to 987,117 euros per consumer from 991,000 euros.

RAE attributed the ceiling reductions for the two surcharges to a 1.3 percent consumer price index drop in 2014, based on Greek Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) figures.
