Greece and Turkey to resume exploratory talks on March 16 in Athens

The 62nd round of exploratory talks between Greece and Turkey will be held on March 16 in Athens, the Greek Foreign Affairs Ministry announced on Wednesday.

In tandem with the exploratory talks, diplomatic sources said that the Greek Foreign Ministry’s Secretary General, Ambassador Themistoklis Demiris, will meet in Athens with Turkish Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister, Ambassador Sedat Onal on the next day, March 17, as part of political consultations.

The two countries have established regular political consultations between Greek and Turkish delegations, headed by the Foreign ministry’s secretary general on the Greek side and the deputy Foreign minister on Turkey’s side, diplomatic sources said.

The last time the two Foreign ministries held political consultations was on January 10, 2020, when Demiris and Onal met in Ankara. Their talks focused on bilateral, regional and international issues.
