Operator reports 3,400 power meter violations for year’s first half

Ongoing inspections by Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator (HEDNO) technical teams in search of illegal power line connections and power meter tampering have produced approximately 3,400 violations in the first half of this year, the operator has reported.

HEDNO, locally acronymed DEDDIE, has once again issued a warning noting that such practices are extremely dangerous, while adding that they also constitute criminal offenses that will be heavily penalized.

The total amount of violations detected by DEDDIE last year had reached approximately 6,650 cases.

The operator warned that checks on the roughly eight million power meters installed nationwide will be intensified. DEDDIE called on consumers to report any interventions or irregularities observed with regard to their power meters.
