NOME regulations published in government gazette

The finalized regulations to apply for the upcoming NOME auctions have been published in the government gazette, paving the way for their imminent launch.

Holders of electricity supply and trading permits will need to register at a registry in order to gain participation rights for the NOME auctions and secondary markets.

Following contrary indications, no quotas will be set for sale of electricity amounts to industrial enterprises through the auctions, while no limits will be set for export amounts within the EU, as energypress reported yesterday.

The upcoming NOME auctions are intended to provide third parties with access to main power utility PPC’s low-cost lignite and hydropower sources as a measure to help break the utility’s market dominance.
