Industrial consumers back RAE proposal for lower energy cost

The Association of Industrial Energy Consumers, EVIKEN, has offered its backing to a proposal by RAE, the Regulatory Authority for Energy, for the establishment of a regulated futures market as part of the NOME-type auctions plan.

“The new proposal contributes to creating conditions for the gradual development of competition in electricity supply for the Greek market,” noted the association, adding that it “recognized it as a very positive initiative”.

In its announcement, EVIKEN also noted that certain aspects of RAE’s proposal would need to be clarified and corrected to ensure “competition in the electricity market contributes to reduced energy costs for Greek industry.”
