Hardouvelis: HFSF funds could form greek buffer

Greek Finance Minister Mr. Hardouvelis stated that it would be positive for country to have emergency reserve funds it can draw on in times of need after end of bailout program.

Mr. Hardouvelis stated that funds unused by Greek bank recap fund, the HFSF, could be used to serve that purpose, since it would be politically less difficult for Greece’s euro-area partners than approving new loans.

He also stated that Greece is not seeking to split from the IMF and that the latter could become observer of Greece in same way as with all countries that Washington-based institution has lent money to.
