ECB approves increase of funding to Greek banks through ELA to 68.3 bln

Τhe ECB Governing Council raised the ceiling of ELA funding to the Greek banks by only €3.3bn to 68.3bn from €65bn that local lenders have already almost tapped.

Reuters meanwhile reported that the BoG governor, Mr. Stournaras, had requested the threshold to be raised by €10bn.

As cited in the same sources, the ECB also rejected on Tuesday the Greek government’s request for the Greek banks to be allowed to acquire additional T-Bills of €5bn.
