Banks interested in financing net metering installations

The banking sector appears favorable to the prospect of financing the installation of photovoltaic facilities by farmers interested in utilizing a new net metering plan, a leading Greek bank official has noted.

Net metering will enable electricity consumers who generate their own power from an eligible on-site facility and deliver it to local distribution facilities to offset the electric energy provided by the utility during an applicable billing period.

Self-producers will use two power meters, one measuring incoming electricity drawn from the grid, the other self-produced electricity exported to the grid. The net amount will be calculated on an annual basis.
