272 communities to benefit from RES compensation amount

A compensation amount for households in areas where renewable energy source (RES) facilities operate, withheld from producers, will be distributed to residents in 272 local communities within 111 municipalities around Greece, based on a ministerial decision signed prior to the festive season holiday period.

Covering the period 2010 to 2013, the total payment amounts to 13,390,731 million euros, accumulated by a one percent tax imposed on RES producer pre-VAT sale prices. The amount has been withheld by LAGIE, the Electricity Market Operator, as well as the administrative authority over non-interconected islands, for prospective distribution to eligible households.
