Strong progress reported on additional LNG tank at Revythoussa

Significant progress has been made on the construction of a third storage tank at the LNG terminal in Revythoussa, an islet in the Saronic Gulf, close to Athens, it has been announced following a meeting by board members at DESFA, the Natural Gas Transmission System Operator.

Once completed, work on the additional storage tank at Revythoussa, one of the country’s most important gas infrastructure facilities, will increase storage capacity by 73 percent, allow for LNG use by a greater number of consumers, and increase the facility’s temporary storage ability to beyond the current limit of eighteen days.

Word on the facility’s additional storage tank began seven months ago. Excavation, foundation and stabilization work is approaching completion.
