The renewable energy (RES) special account’s deficit widened by nearly 50 million euros over a month to reach 190 million euros in June, LAGIE, the Electricity Market Operator, noted in its latest report.
A month earlier, in May, the RES special account’s deficit stood at 142 million euros.
The deficit increase was attributed to a number of reasons including lower-cost carbon emission rights, which help fund the account.
The operator forecast that the deficit will widen further to reach 287.17 million euros by the end of this year and 446.59 million euros by the end of 2017.
