HEDNO summoned for RES surcharge offsetting involvement

RAE, the Regulatory Authority for Energy, plans to summon HEDNO, the Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator for the non-interconnected islands, a subsidiary firm of the main power utility PPC, to a hearing during which it will need to explain why it is involved in offsetting practices committed by the parent company which are ultimately delaying payments to RES producers.

PPC has already been summoned by RAE to explain the reasons behind its lengthy payment delays to HEDNO, locally acronymed DEDDIE, and IPTO, the power grid operator.

RES producers based on the Greek islands reported PPC, the main producer and supplier of electricity, for withholding RES-supporting surcharges raised through electricity bills and not transferring full amounts to HEDNO.

Once transferred to the operator by PPC, surcharge amounts are then relayed to RES producers. The payment delays have place RES investor under great financial pressure.
