ELPE intends to play key role in hydrocarbon field, official tells

ELPE (Hellenic Petroleum) intends to play a leading role in Greece’s hydrocarbon sector, Giorgos Alexopoulos, the corporate group’s director for strategic planning, told an energy conference in Athens today.

The company has explored 26 areas of possible oil-producing potential, is already active as the operator of a licence in the Gulf of Patras, western Greece – for which seismic data collected is now being processed – has been granted a licence for an onshore Arta-Preveza block, and plans to pursue a key exploration and exploitation role in the Ionian Sea, the official told the conference.

Titled “Energy Market: Unlocking Greece’s Economic Potential,” the conference was organized by TEE, the Technical Chamber of Greece.
